(Henderson, Nev.) — Cadence, a 2,200 acre planned community in Henderson, is set to be a New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day destination for running buffs and Las Vegas Valley residents.

Beginning at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, the community will kick-off its inaugural Cadence New Year’s Double Dash with a 5K and one-mile run on New Year’s Eve. Registration for the events begins at 9 p.m. Shortly after the clock strikes midnight, a separate 5K will begin at 12:15 a.m. on Jan. 1, marking the first Southern Nevada run of 2016. Guests may register for more than one event – a complete schedule is available at www.active.com.

All routes will wind through Cadence’s well-lit, picturesque grounds and feature panoramic views of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. The running events will culminate at the community’s expansive Central Park, where registered participants may enjoy the Strip fireworks show, a warm cup of soup, hot cider and cocoa as well as New Year’s tunes and party favors.

“There is no better place in Southern Nevada to experience The Strip fireworks than Cadence and there is no better way to kick off a healthy new year than with a midnight run… or two,” said Cheryl Persinger, spokesperson for The LandWell Company, developer of Cadence. “These events truly capture the spirit of the active Cadence lifestyle and we can’t wait to kick off 2016 with so many of our neighbors, residents and friends in the community.”

A portion of proceeds from the Cadence New Year’s Double Dash will benefit the American Heart Association. For complete details or to register for the New Year’s events, visit www.active.com.
