Teaching Garden unveiled at Robert Taylor Elementary School
– First-graders assist in planting fruit trees in celebration of Arbor Day

HENDERSON, NEV. – A teaching garden will be unveiled at Robert Taylor Elementary School, 144 Westminster Way in Henderson, on Friday, April 25, at 11 a.m. First grade students will assist in planting five citrus trees to mark the occasion, which also happens to be Arbor Day.
The Teaching Garden is funded by The LandWell Company, developer of the 2,200-acre Cadence planned community. Program partners include the American Heart Association, GTI and Garden Farms.
Students will learn how to plant seeds, nurture plants and harvest produce with assistance from a gardener. The students will also learn how to make healthy meals from the produce they harvest.
GTI built the garden boxes and landscaped the Teaching Gardens area at the school to ensure the best learning experience for the students. Garden Farms works with the students on planting, tending and harvesting the garden, while the American Heart Association provides classroom programming and gardening assistance.
In addition to the citrus trees, students will transplant tomato and cucumber plants into the garden along with a variety of herbs.
